Gunnbjorns Fjeld, Greenland, advanced

Greenland is the world's largest island and is composed of a 3000 meter thick ice cap.  It lies almost entirely above the artic circle, sandwiched between Baffin Island to the west and Iceland to the east.  Though geologically and geographically part of North America, it is a territory of the Kingdom of Demark.

With rugged mountain ranges running for more than a thousand miles along the east and west coasts, this remote region is unique on Earth.  Its mountainous terrain is still largely unexplored and offers mountaineers opportunity for numerous first ascents.  For those interested in vast, remote glacial wilderness, snow covered peaks of moderate altitude, and technical terrain for every mountaineer, this is our most adaptable offering.

We charter a Twin Otter plane from Iceland to the Watkins Glacier where we establish our basecamp.  Over a period of days we become more familiar with the surrounding terrain and prepare ourselves technically to travel beyond our encampment.  We expore several peaks in the area on skis and snowshoes before our final summit attempt on Gunnbjorns Fjeld, the highest peak above the artic circle.

With generally excellent weather at this time of year, a wide variety of opportunities, and a flexible, client driven schedule, much can be accomplished on this expedition.
