Peak Expeditions provides professionally organized, affordable mountain expeditions and treks to the great peaks of the world.  We specialize in the development of alpine climbing and mountain travel skills.  While our emphasis is toward self-sufficiency in extreme environments, our expeditions make use of state-of-the-art communications and medical technology.   Our low guest to guide ratio insures individual goals and commitments will be well attended.

Starting with a well managed base camp infrastructure with advanced communication systems, we believe small, self-contained, flexible teams achieve the greatest success in the mountains.  With expeditions around the world to explore rich cultures and self challenge, our extensively trained, spirited guides can position you for the adventure of a lifetime.

Austin Paulson founded Peak Expeditions in 1988.  A veteran of more than 60 international mountaineering expeditions around the world with 20 years in the adventure industry, he is regarded as one of the most accomplished mountaineering authorities in the Northeastern US.  He received rock and alpine training from the American Mountain Guides Association, is a level 2 avalanche forecaster, and is trained as an Emergency Medical Technician.

Austin has been involved in the development and management of several university and college adventure programs in the Northeast and currently teaches courses for the Outdoor Leadership Program in Massachusetts and in the Adventure Program Management department of Lyndon State College in Vermont.

Guides

We are very proud of the individuals that comprise our guiding staff.  They are full time professional guides and mountain educators of the highest quality and have dedicated themselves to a lifetime of teaching.  Our international guides have a minimum of ten years guiding experience and most are well into their second decade of climbing and skiing throughout the world.  We work closely with our local outfitter partners to provide you with expert support for your personal adventure.
